Music

Head of department: Mr C Fowler

Overview

The music department is an inclusive and high-achieving department. We have a modern and forward-thinking approach and celebrate music-making in a variety of styles. As well as a traditional musical curriculum we also incorporate music technology in our lessons in both KS3 and KS4. Students can learn a range of musical instruments with our team of specialist instrumental tutors. Our formal and informal concert programme allows students to gain experience and develop their own performance skills.

Individual music lessons are taught in our suite of instrumental practice rooms by specialist tutors.

We run our own independent music lessons for students who would like instrumental, singing or theory lessons. Fees are payable termly in advance. Students in years 7 to 9 come out of subject lessons on a rotational basis where possible. Students in year 10 and upwards have lessons before school, during breaks or after school. All students can take part in the Music club, the Ukulele club and the School Choir.
