OFSTED Inspection – June 2015

I am pleased to inform you that the full report written by the OFSTED Inspection Team following their visit to the school on 25th and 26th June is now published.

OFSTED judged our school to be GOOD.

We are delighted that OFSTED judged the quality of teaching to be good; achievement to be good; the behaviour and safety of pupils to be good and the leadership and management to be good.   The report cited the headteacher's leadership to be excellent.  The report particularly highlighted the following strengths:

  • Students make greater than average gains from their learning
  • Teachers’ high expectations of all students
  • Friendly and well-ordered atmosphere within the school
  • Students value their learning
  • Parents are very supportive of the school
  • Leaders and other staff have an unswerving ambition to meet the needs of all students
  • The leadership of the Headteacher is outstanding.

It is most encouraging to note that the inspectors agreed with the areas for improvement to make the school outstanding. The inspectors have asked us to strengthen the quality of teaching and the progress of all students, so that both are outstanding, by:

Strengthening support with students joining the school with low literacy.

  • Ensuring all teachers give precise feedback for students to improve further their work.
  • Challenging, inspiring all students, including the most able, to achieve the highest levels possible.
  • Ensuring all subjects leaders check the work of teachers rigorously to help them improve their teaching.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and students who provide endless support and for providing feedback via questionnaires and interviews, particularly during the inspection period.

I am looking forward to working with parents, students, staff and governors in developing our school to become outstanding.
