Duke of Edinburgh Award - The Corbet School

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an outstanding initiative aimed at 14 to 24 year olds. It offers young people the opportunity to take part in a highly-regarded, challenging and fulfilling scheme which will not only benefit the awardee but their communities too. Employers and Colleges recognise the award as one which requires young people to challenge themselves in four areas: volunteering, skills, physical and expedition.

HRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh founded the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in 1956 and remains patron.  The scheme has been dedicated to the personal development of young people from all backgrounds and is the widest reaching programme of any UK youth charity with 275,000 young people (30,000 are from disadvantaged backgrounds) taking part every year.

Jubilee High School have students taking part in the Bronze Level and at Silver Level. There is always a healthy interest in the programme which starts in September. Students receive their awards a public ceremony held by Runnymede Council

The staff here at Jubilee work hard to make the school the best place for the students.  They give the student body a voice and allow their opinions to be heard.  It feels great to know that they are aware of how the students feel and want to help.

My favourite part of Jubilee High School is definitely the teachers.  In our lessons they give me work that challenges me and are always easy to talk to if I’m struggling.  It is clear to me that they put a lot of time into our lessons to help us achieve great things.

I love being part of the Jubilee High School community because of the opportunities I am offered, all the supportive and welcoming staff, and because I get to see my friends every day!  Jubilee High is an amazing school that believe in you and push you to achieve your best.  My teachers are always there for me and I can talk to them about anything that may be worrying me.  Overall, the staff at Jubilee make school feel like a second home.

I enjoy going to Jubilee high School for so many reasons.  You can make friends and learn something new each day.  We have brilliant lessons, extra-curricular clubs and many GCSE options to choose from.
